Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin thanked Kuwait for recently hiring a substantial number of Bangladeshi nurses under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two countries. He also welcomed Kuwait’s interest in recruiting domestic aides and discussed the possibility of signing a legal agreement to ensure the smooth regulation and protection of domestic workers' rights in Kuwait.
The meeting also explored expanding bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, energy, food security, and the development of new sectors. Foreign Secretary Uddin suggested that Kuwaiti investors could capitalize on Bangladesh’s agro-based products and food processing sector, especially within the country’s Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ). Ambassador Hamadah expressed interest in the food security proposal, particularly in the development of the halal food industry.
Both sides highlighted the importance of strengthening trade, business, and investment ties. Ambassador Hamadah acknowledged Bangladesh’s suggestion to simplify visa procedures for businesspeople and investors, calling it a crucial step toward enhancing economic cooperation.
The two officials also noted the ongoing defense collaboration between the countries, praising the professionalism of military personnel serving in Kuwait. They agreed on the importance of expediting the planned visit of a Kuwaiti delegation to Dhaka and the proposed visit of Kuwait’s Foreign Minister to Bangladesh for the Joint Commission meeting.
Both parties expressed satisfaction with their mutual cooperation on the international stage, including within the Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD), and committed to continuing efforts to expand the bilateral relationship for mutual benefit.
