Bangladesh, Philippines Agree to Hold High-Level Talks

Bangladesh highlighted the importance of finalizing pending bilateral agreements to enhance cooperation across sectors. Key areas of focus include investment, direct air connectivity, migrant worker capacity-building, nursing education, tourism, and strengthening people-to-people ties.

The newly appointed Ambassador of the Philippines to Bangladesh, Nina Padilla Cainglet, met with Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where they discussed enhancing bilateral relations, which are founded on mutual respect, shared cultural values, and common development goals.

Foreign Secretary Uddin noted that the full potential of bilateral trade remains untapped and stressed the need to increase trade and commerce between the two nations. He also thanked the Philippines for its support in recovering stolen funds from Bangladesh Bank and requested further assistance in retrieving the remaining money.

Additionally, the Foreign Secretary sought the Philippines' support for Bangladesh’s bid to become a Sectoral Dialogue Partner of ASEAN and for resolving the ongoing Rohingya crisis.

Ambassador Padilla assured full support on these matters, while Foreign Secretary Uddin pledged all necessary support during her tenure in Bangladesh.
