The Embassy of Italy in Dhaka has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to tackling corruption in the visa application process and pledged full cooperation with law enforcement authorities in both Italy and Bangladesh.

In a statement, the embassy urged visa applicants to avoid using third-party intermediaries and to refrain from making any payments beyond the official consular and service fees set by the embassy and VFS Global.

Additionally, the embassy called on applicants to report any instances of misconduct during their visa application process, emphasizing that such actions would help maintain the integrity of the system.

The embassy also announced that recent improvements in visa processing times are a result of additional staff deployed from Italy, and expressed confidence that the existing visa backlog would be cleared in the coming months.

The embassy reiterated its active involvement in identifying and reporting fraudulent activities, as well as assisting authorities with ongoing investigations. A recent investigation by the Italian Police (Guardia di Finanza) led to the indictment and house arrest of two former embassy staff members, along with several other individuals from both Italy and Bangladesh.

The embassy highlighted that these actions underscore the strict verification measures being implemented by relevant authorities to dismantle criminal networks and protect migrants from exploitation and abuse.
