Foreign Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain today emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between Bangladesh and Russia to tackle both regional and global challenges, ensuring that the ties between the two nations remain as strong as ever.

“Our two countries must not only continue the tradition of mutual goodwill but also deepen our cooperation to address shared challenges, ensuring that the bonds between Bangladesh and Russia remain as robust as ever,” Hossain stated.

He made these remarks during a special event in Dhaka marking the 50th anniversary of the Russian House, a hub of cultural diplomacy, which has fostered closer ties between the people of Bangladesh and Russia.

“The Russian House has long been a beacon for cultural exchange, bringing together thinkers, intellectuals, artists, and professionals from both nations to celebrate and better understand one another's cultures,” the adviser noted.

Hossain highlighted that while the anniversary marked a significant achievement, it also symbolized a forward-looking vision for the future of bilateral relations. “This milestone is not just a reflection of our past achievements but also a reaffirmed commitment to building a stronger, more dynamic partnership in the years ahead,” he remarked.

The adviser stressed the importance of continuing to build on the Russian House’s legacy by fostering greater cultural exchanges, enhancing people-to-people ties, and expanding the overall partnership between Dhaka and Moscow.

He also acknowledged Russia's invaluable support in Bangladesh’s development journey. “The Russian Federation’s contribution to our progress, particularly in key sectors, has been indispensable. The Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant stands as a testament to the strength of our collaboration,” Hossain said.

Touching on the upcoming visit of ROSATOM’s Director General to Bangladesh this Wednesday, the adviser expressed optimism that the visit would facilitate a comprehensive review of the Rooppur Power Plant’s construction and advance its development.

Reflecting on Bangladesh’s transformation following the July Revolution, Hossain stated that the nation is on a path of resilience, inclusivity, and rapid growth. Under the leadership of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, Bangladesh is building a future rooted in justice, equality, and opportunity for all its citizens.

“We are deeply grateful for Russia’s continued support as a trusted partner in helping us realize the dreams of our people, particularly our students,” Hossain added.

The event was attended by Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Khozin, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Director General Dr. Syed Jamil Ahmed, Director General of Rossotrudnichestvo Yevgeny Primakov, and Russian House Director Pavel Dvoychenkov, among other dignitaries.
