The request was made during a meeting between Bangladesh's Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Dr. Mohammad Monirul Islam, and Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Transport, Choriyev Jasurbek Ergashevich, on Friday in Tashkent.
Ambassador Islam emphasized that launching direct flights by Uzbekistan Airways on the Dhaka-Tashkent route would significantly boost trade, investment, education, culture, and tourism between the two nations.
In response, Deputy Minister Ergashevich assured that the Uzbek government is actively considering the ASA and acknowledged the challenges involved in launching the route. He also shared potential solutions to overcome these obstacles.
Ambassador Islam further highlighted the progress in bilateral relations and stressed the importance of accelerating cooperation. Ergashevich reaffirmed Uzbekistan's commitment to strengthening ties with Bangladesh, citing the shared historical, cultural, and religious connections between the two countries.
The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing to work together to enhance the momentum of their bilateral relations.
