The expression of intent came as Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Mexico, M Mushfiqul Fazal (Ansarey), presented his letter of credence to President Sheinbaum in a formal ceremony held at the National Palace in Mexico City on Wednesday.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Fazal conveyed heartfelt greetings from Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, Prof Muhammad Yunus, and extended a warm invitation for President Sheinbaum to visit Bangladesh.
Ambassador Fazal emphasized the importance of the upcoming 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Mexico in 2025. He highlighted that this milestone presents a unique opportunity to further bolster cooperation in key areas such as trade, cultural exchange, and people-to-people ties.
The Ambassador also underscored the necessity of expediting the establishment of a Mexican Embassy in Dhaka, which would play a crucial role in fostering closer diplomatic and economic relations between the two nations.
In response, President Sheinbaum warmly received the Ambassador and assured him of her government's full support in fulfilling his diplomatic duties. The meeting was followed by a tour of the National Palace, which serves as the official office and residence of the President of Mexico.
This symbolic gesture reaffirms both countries’ shared desire for stronger bilateral cooperation and mutual prosperity.
