“The main objective of the Chief Adviser’s visit is to engage with Chinese investors, manufacturers, energy companies, and both private and state-run Chinese enterprises,” Alam said during a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy.
Professor Yunus will depart for China tomorrow for a four-day official visit.
Alam emphasized that as part of his economic diplomacy, Prof. Yunus aims to showcase Bangladesh as a prime manufacturing hub. “The interim government is implementing key policy measures to establish Bangladesh as a manufacturing center. Efforts are underway to provide a one-stop service to ensure foreign firms face no obstacles when investing in the country's private sector,” he added.
The government’s overarching goal, Alam stated, is to generate employment and accelerate the nation’s economic growth.
During his visit, Prof. Yunus is scheduled to address the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) on March 27, where he will discuss Asia’s evolving role in the global landscape. On the sidelines of the forum, he is expected to hold crucial discussions with CEOs of major global and Chinese companies.
The Chief Adviser will also meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on March 28 for a bilateral discussion, with additional meetings planned with potential investors in Beijing, Alam confirmed.
