India Ends Transshipment Facility for BD’s Exports

India has canceled the transshipment facility for Bangladesh's export cargo, a move that could disrupt exports to countries like Bhutan, Nepal, and Myanmar.
The Indian Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) issued a notification on Tuesday confirming the termination, according to Indian media reports.
In its circular, the CBIC announced the rescinding of its earlier June 29, 2020 circular, which had allowed the transshipment of Bangladesh’s export cargo via Indian Land Customs Stations (LCSs) to ports and airports in containers or closed-bodied trucks. This facility had been crucial for smooth trade flows, enabling Bangladesh to export goods to third countries like Bhutan, Nepal, and Myanmar.
The decision could significantly impact trade routes and logistics for Bangladesh's exports to these countries.
