Nepal Seeks Stronger Trade, Energy, and Tourism Ties

Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari on Friday emphasised the growing momentum in economic cooperation between Nepal and Bangladesh, highlighting recent advancements in energy trade and increased tourism linkages as key drivers of bilateral ties.

Addressing a programme titled “Nepal-Bangladesh Cooperation: Dynamics of Trade, Tourism, and Connectivity” organised by the Nepalese Embassy in Khulna, the Ambassador called on Bangladeshi businesses to forge stronger partnerships with their Nepali counterparts. He underscored the potential for enhanced collaboration in trade, energy, tourism, and regional connectivity.

Second Secretary Yojana Bamjan presented an overview of existing and emerging areas of bilateral cooperation. The session concluded with an interactive discussion, where participants' queries and concerns were addressed.

Khulna Police Commissioner Md. Zulfikar Ali Haider, Additional Divisional Commissioner Debprosad Paul, Khulna Chamber of Commerce and Industry Administrator Nurul Hai Mohammad Anas, along with several travel and tour operators, also spoke at the event.

The programme was attended by representatives from various chambers of commerce, prominent business leaders, tourism stakeholders, and members of the media.

Earlier in the day, Ambassador Bhandari participated in a Children’s Art Competition and a Drama Exhibition titled “Sundarboner Kothokata”, organised at the Khulna District Shilpakala Academy to mark Khulna Day 2025. He spoke about the deep-rooted cultural and civilisational ties between the two countries and highlighted the important role of artists and writers in strengthening people-to-people connections.

The Ambassador also encouraged young artists to continue nurturing their creative talents through art and storytelling.
