The ARF meeting will take place on July 10-11 in the Malaysian capital, with the Foreign Affairs Adviser expected to return home on July 12, a senior official of the foreign ministry told BSS today.
Bangladesh, which became an official partner of the ARF in 2006, actively participates in the multilateral security forum to advance regional peace, stability, and cooperation.
The country was formally admitted to the ARF during the inaugural session of its thirteenth Annual Ministerial Meeting held in Kuala Lumpur on July 28, 2006.
Established in 1994 following the decision taken at the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting and Post Ministerial Conference in Singapore in 1993, the ARF serves as a key platform for diverse nations to engage in discussions on regional security issues and to build mutual trust among partners in the Asia-Pacific region, reports BSS.
Foreign ministry officials said Bangladesh’s participation at the ARF reflects its commitment to regional peace, security, and constructive dialogue, aligning with its broader foreign policy objectives.
