Bhutanese PM to hold talks with Prof Yunus

Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, now on a two-day state visit, is scheduled hold a tête-à-tête with Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus at his office in Tejgaon before delegation level talks later today.


The meeting is expected to begin at 3pm, a senior official told UNB.

The meeting will discuss various areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade and investment, communication, education, agriculture, health, energy and power, telecommunications, tourism, culture, youth and sports, and industry, officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Following the talks, three MoUs are likely to be signed with Bhutan on international internet bandwidth, recruitment of specialist doctors and health workers in Bhutan, and agricultural cooperation.

In the morning, he laid a wreath at the altar of the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar to pay homage to the martyrs of Bangladesh’s Liberation War and planted a tree on the premises of the memorial shorty aftter his arrival in Dhaka on a two-day state visit.

Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain called on visiting Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay at a city hotel and discussed issues of mutual interest, reports UNB. 

Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin also called on the visiting Bhutanese Prime Minister.
