French Ambassador to Bangladesh Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet on Sunday met Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman, reiterating France's support for the holding of ‘fair, free, and peaceful’ elections.

France hopes that this ‘decisive vote’ for the future of Bangladesh will bring to power a government that will be committed to meeting the legitimate aspirations of all Bangladeshi people, said the French Embassy in Dhaka.

France also hopes that the vote will bring to power a government that will pursue the necessary reforms for the institutional and economic stability required for the development of the partnership between the two countries, reports UNB.

Bangladesh is set to hold the national election on February 12 next.
