Dengue: one dies, 439 hospitalised in 24 hours

Health officials today said they recorded 439 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least one person in the past 24 
hours.

"During the period, (of the 439) 83 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division while 75 in Chattogram division, 77 in Dhaka division, 46 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 41 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 41 in Khulna division, 19 in Mymensingh division, 26 in Rajshahi division, 30 in Rangpur division and one Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed, so far, 40 deaths while the disease inflicted 12,640.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the mosquito-borne disease claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024, reports BSS.
