Dengue: 2 more die; 672 new hospitalized in 24hrs

Health officials today said they recorded 672 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least two persons in the past 24 hours.

"During the period, (of the 672) 84 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 88 in Chattogram division, 66 in Dhaka division, 91 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 110 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 140 in Khulna division, 27 in Mymensingh division, 57 in Rajshahi division, five in Rangpur division and four in Sylhet division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 61 deaths while the disease inflicted 19,345.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country, reports BSS.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
