Opposition Leader in Parliament and Jatiya Party chief patron Begum Raushon Ershad today demanded urgent government measures for dengue prevention as the disease is taking a dangerous turn.

In a statement, she said dengue outbreak in Bangladesh has taken a worrisome turn as the disease has already spread throughout the country prompting hospitals and clinics to deal with a huge number of patients.

She said the country saw 14 more deaths from dengue today totaling the number over 800 in the current year while the death rate of children is much higher.

She said there is also a crisis of normal saline in districts as some government hospitals could not ensure saline against demand of dengue patients and the patients have to buy saline from outside.

The opposition leader underlined the need for coordinated efforts from concerned city corporation officials, public representatives and hospital authorities to contain the dengue outbreak, reports UNB.
