Dengue surge: 17 more die, 2014 hospitalized

According to a statement of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), a total of 2,014 new dengue patients were hospitalized over the period.



17 more dengue patients died across the country in the past 24 hours till Monday (October 23), raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to 1,272.

According to a statement of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), a total of 2,014 new dengue patients were hospitalized over the period.

Of the new cases, 454 are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Dhaka and 1,560 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals outside Dhaka.

With the new cases, the total number of patients rose to 2,57,060, the statement said, adding: “This year, some 2,48,199 patients were released from different hospitals out of the total patients.”
