One dies, 172 hospitalised in dengue in 24 hrs

One dengue patient died while 172 were admitted to hospitals across the country during the last 24 hours till this morning, DGHS sources said.


Seventeen patients were hospitalised in Barishal, 17 in Chattogram, 51 in Dhaka, 34 in Dhaka North city while 33 in Dhaka South city, five in Khulna, 10 in Rajshahi, one in Rangpur and four in Mymensingh.

In this calendar year from January 1 to December 23, total number of dengue infection cases rose to 1,00,366 while 564 deaths were so far reported.

Total death toll in dengue was 1,705 and total infection cases were 3,21,179 last year, according to DGHS.
