Dengue: 1 more died, 209 new cases reported yesterday

One more dengue-related death and 209 fresh cases were reported in the past 24 hours, with Barishal division recording the highest number of infections, health officials said today.


83 new patients were hospitalised in Barishal, followed by 48 in Dhaka division (excluding the capital), 31 in Chattogram, 19 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 18 in Dhaka North City Corporation, eight in Mymensingh, and two in Khulna, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The latest figures bring the total deaths to 84 and cases to 21,327 so far this year.

Meanwhile, 186 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours, reports UNB. 

Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives and infected 101,214 people.
