Mahbub has been dismissed from post of Kalapara AL president

Patuakhali: The District Awami League has temporarily dismissed Md. Mahbubur Rahman, the former state minister for water resources and Kalapara Upazila Awami League president of Patuakhali, for making a false comment calling the current MP of Patuakhali-4 seat 114, Patuakhali-4 a 'night vote MP'.

Confirming the matter, district Awami League president Bir Muktijoddha Kazi Alamgir said over the phone, "Due to the controversial comments, a recommendation has been sent to the district Awami League on behalf of Upazila Awami League to take action against Upazila Awami League President Mahbubur Rahman." After that he was mourned by the district Awami League. He also responded to show cause. We have sent these documents to the central Awamileague. The Central has said that he should not be fired until further orders. But we temporarily exempted him in the district committee meeting to avoid complications. If the

central gives instructions, we will return him to same post. Now the 1st vice-president will perform the duties of the president.”

Kalapara Upazila Awami League 1 No. Vice President and Upazila Chairman SM Rakibul Ahsan said, "I have not received any letter in this regard so far. But I am hearing such news through social media.”

Kalapara Upazila Awami League General Secretary Bir Muktijoddha Motaleb Talukder said on the phone, "The speech of the upazila president which has gone viral is such a touchy issue that we could not hold a meeting anywhere outside." That is why we sent a proposal to the District Awami League to take action. After that the district Awami League mourned him but the response to the mourning was not satisfactory. Then on May 23, an extended meeting of the district Awami League was held with the leaders of all upazilas. It has been decided that the proposal of resignation from the post of president should be sent to the Central Awami League.

It is to be noted that Ruman, a Chhatra League activist of Dalbuganj Union of the upazila, was threatened by the former state minister and upazila Awami League president over the phone on March 6, Thursday afternoon, after he posted a photo of Md. Mohibbur Rahman, the current

MP of the Patuakhali-4 (Kalapara-Rangabali) constituency, on Facebook with the words 'human hawker' written on it. Md Mahbubur Rahman. At that time, he said, 60 years out of 70 years, Kalapara Upazila Awami League president, secretary, me and my father. What the hell are you

talking about? If you want to do Awami League, Chhatra League, you have to take a certificate from me. I hate your politics.

In that audio which went viral within moments, he can be heard saying, 'What is your MP humanity peddler doing, tell me. How many kilometers of road? The voting has been done at night, he is your MP. Awami League me and my father. Others are Razakars.

After that, the leaders of the Upazila Awami League and other organizations started a continuous human chain program to protest the incident and demand the dismissal of the former state minister Mahbub.

Later Upazila Awami League held an emergency meeting to protect the image of the party. The resolution of dismissal from the post of party president was sent to the district by unanimous consent in the meeting. – Gofran Palash
