3 labors missing in boat capsize in Teesta, yet to be traced



Gaibandha, July 28 - Three workers, who went missing in the Teesta River after  a boat capsize in Gaibandha’s Sundarganj on Saturday afternoon, haven’t been traced till Sunday morning.

Workers Atwar, Raju and Rashid went missing while dumping cement blocks to prevent river erosion last afternoon.

Though the divers started search for the workers on Saturday afternoon the workers remained untraced, said Sundarganj Nirbahi Officer Md Tariqul Islam.

However, eleven more workers, who sustained injuries in the boat capsize incident, were admitted to Gaibandha General Hospital.

District Water Development Board’s Executive Engineer Md Hafizur Haq said at least 30 workers were engaged in dumping blocks to prevent river bank erosion in the Sreepur area on Saturday.

Suddenly the blocks-laden boat capsized, he added.-UNB
