An opinion exchange meeting on the occasion of the National Fisheries Week was held at Kalapara on Tuesday.



Patuakhali: An exchange meeting with local journalists was held on the occasion of National Fisheries Week at Kalapara of Patuakhali with the theme "Bharbo mache moder desh, Garbo smart Bangladesh".

Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Apu Saha was present as the chief guest in this exchange meeting at Kalapara Senior Fisheries Officer's office on Tuesday at 11 am.

In the meeting, Fisheries Officer Apu Saha said, on the occasion of the seven-day fishing week from July 30 to August 5, besides encouraging all classes of people to fish farming in Kalapara, an award for successful fish farmers of the upazila and a scholarship of 50,000 taka will be given to a meritorious student from a fisherman family. Besides, processions, discussion meetings and fish fry will be released on the occasion of the Fish Week.

At the time, he also said, 'During the 65-day ban on fishing in the sea, the fish seized in Kalapara was sold for 12 lakh taka and a fine of 8 lakh taka was collected.'
