Ex-commander of ‘Muktijoddha Sangsad’, brother held in Bhola

Bhola, 18 Feb –Bhola district Awami League vice-president and ex-commander of district Muktijoddha Sangsad Dosto Mahmud and his younger brother were detained in ‘Operation Devil Hunt’ in Bhola town on Tuesday.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhola Sadar Model Police Station Abu Shahadat Md Hasnain Parvez said Mahmud and his brother, Md Helal Uddin the district AL’s Industry and Commerce Affairs Secretary, were detained by the joint force members from their residence on Kalibari Road.

Legal action would be taken against them and they would be produced before a court, he said.

According to a statement from the Navy, the duo was detained on charges of planning sabotage cantering Awami League’s ‘Hartal’ programme.

They were later handed over to Bhola Sadar Model Police Station, the Navy said.BSS
