Moderate Earthquake Shakes Parts of Bangladesh

A moderate earthquake jolted parts of Bangladesh on Wednesday morning, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).


The tremor, which registered 5.6 on the Richter scale, struck at 11:36 AM local time. The epicenter was located 449 kilometers northeast of the BMD Seismic Centre in Agargaon, Dhaka.

In a related incident, a 6.1 magnitude earthquake recently shook Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu.

Fortunately, no casualties or significant damage have been reported from the tremor in Bangladesh at this time. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation closely.
