In a recent press release, NBR highlighted the overwhelming response to its online income tax filing service, which has made tax compliance more accessible for taxpayers across the country.
In a bid to further promote digital tax services, the NBR confirmed that the online filing platform will remain available year-round, even after the Income Tax Day on February 16. This extended availability aims to provide taxpayers with greater flexibility and convenience when submitting their returns.
However, the NBR emphasized that taxpayers who file after the deadline will forfeit eligibility for investment tax rebates and exemptions under Section 76 of the Income Tax Act, 2023. Additionally, a 2% monthly penalty (up to 24 months) will be levied on unpaid taxes as per Section 174 of the Act.
Expressing gratitude to those who have already embraced online filing, NBR encouraged all taxpayers to continue using the digital platform for a seamless filing experience and to obtain their income tax certificates easily.
