The second unit of Adani Group’s 1,600MW Godda Power Plant in Jharkhand has resumed operations following a brief technical shutdown.
With the unit restored on Tuesday evening, both 800MW units are now ready to supply electricity to Bangladesh as required by the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).
A technical issue detected last Thursday forced the shutdown, but engineers resolved the problem quickly, allowing the unit to resume operations within days.
As of 6pm Wednesday, Bangladesh received a maximum of 765MW from the plant. Officials said the facility can ramp up supply to around 1,500MW whenever BPDB requests additional load.
“We are awaiting BPDB’s schedule to increase supply. Winter demand is currently low, so BPDB has not yet drawn power from the second unit,” an official said.
Built under a long-term agreement to supply power exclusively to Bangladesh, the Godda plant has been a key source in meeting the country’s electricity needs.
