A fire broke out at the ‘Saudia’ residential hotel in Bashatala, Shahjadpur, on Monday, resulting in the deaths of four people.

The victims were found inside a bathroom on the sixth floor, with the staircase door locked, according to Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters Station Officer Talha bin Jasim.

The fire began on the second floor of the six-storey building around noon, and the Fire Service control room received an alert at 12:17 pm. In response, two firefighting units were dispatched to the scene, said Rashed Bin Khalid, duty officer at the control room.

The blaze was brought under control by 1:03 pm, but tragically, four lives were lost in the incident.
