4 Sail fishes weighing 140 kg caught in Bay of Bengal

Four sail fishes caught in the Bay of Bengal on Monday.



Patuakhali: In the Bay of Bengal near Kuakata, 4 Sail fish were caught in the fishermen's net. Which is sold for 25 thousand taka. On Monday (January 22) afternoon, a fisherman named Farooq Akon brought four of these fish to Alipur Fish Landing Center of Kalapara Upazila of Patuakhali. Later, a shopkeeper named Naeem of the port bought the fish. Then many people gathered to see the fish.

Fisherman Farooq said that he got the fish in the net three days ago. He came to Alipur port on Sunday and sold these fish.

Fishware house owner Nayem said, these fish are quite fast. So many people know these fish as birds. At this season of the year the fishes are caught in the nets of the fishermen. This fish is in high demand as it is very tasty. I have arranged to buy four fish for 25 thousand taka and send them to Dhaka, I hope to get a good price.

Kalapara Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Apu Saha said that the fish are in great demand outside the country as they are very tasty. Its English name is Sailfish and its scientific name is Istiophorus platypterus. - Gofran Biswas Palash
