20,000 meters of illegal nets seized in Kalapara.

Patuakhali: Executive Magistrate and Kalapara UNO Md. Jahangir Hossain removed at least 20,000 meters of illegal Chinese nets from Pakhimara Canal in Kalapara of Patuakhali. On Friday afternoon, these nets were seized from Pakhimara Canal of Nilganj Union of the Upazila. With the help of the members of the voluntary organization Animal Lovers of Patuakhali, Executive Magistrate Md. Jahangir Hossain burnt and destroyed these nets.

Executive Magistrate and Kalapara UNO Md. Jahangir Hossain said that those fishermen who use Chinese nets in fishing will be brought under the law. They are constantly destroying the fish resources of the country with thick nets. - Gofran Biswas Palash
