India’s Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi has issued a sharp warning to Pakistan, saying the country risks severe consequences if it continues to shelter terrorists and support anti-India activities.

He made the remarks on Saturday (May 16) during an interactive session titled “Army Dialogue” at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi, organised under the event “Uniform Unveiled”.

Responding to a question about a possible repeat of a situation similar to last year’s “Operation Sindoor”, the Army Chief said India’s response would depend on Pakistan’s actions.

He warned that if cross-border terrorism and anti-India activities continue, Pakistan would have to decide whether it remains a part of the world map or is reduced to history.

His comments came shortly after India and its armed forces marked the first anniversary of “Operation Sindoor”.

The operation, carried out on May 7 last year, involved Indian strikes on multiple infrastructure targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir following the Pahalgam attack.

Pakistan later attempted counter-operations, but India responded with strong defensive measures. The 88-hour escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbours eventually de-escalated through an understanding reached on May 10 evening.
