Jeddah, 07 January 2024 - As 5 January 2024 marks 75 years since the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan (UNCIP) unanimously adopted a resolution espousing the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people through a free and impartial plebiscite under the auspices of the United Nations, the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) reiterates its call on the international community to honor the UNCIP decision, which is upheld by the United Nations Security Council in its subsequent resolutions.

The General Secretariat reaffirms the OIC’s support for the Kashmiri people’s inalienable right to self-determination, and for the final settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and calls again on the international community to ensure the implementation of those resolutions. – OIC News
