OIC General Secretariat Welcomes Muscat Prisoner Exchange Deal

Jeddah, 24-12-2025 - The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a statement welcoming the prisoner and detainee exchange agreement reached in Muscat, Oman, on December 23, 2025. This agreement is recognized as a significant humanitarian achievement, aimed at mitigating human suffering and fostering an environment conducive to confidence-building measures among conflicting parties in Yemen.

The General Secretariat acknowledges the pivotal roles played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman in facilitating the negotiations, as well as the contributions of the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen and the International Committee of the Red Cross in bringing this agreement to fruition.

Moreover, the OIC General Secretariat expressed hope that this development will serve as a catalyst to advance peace and stability processes in Yemen while addressing the urgent humanitarian needs of its population.

The General Secretariat reaffirms the OIC's steadfast commitment to supporting comprehensive strategies to achieve long-term security, peace, and stability in Yemen, in line with the aspirations of the Yemeni people. – OIC News
