DHAKA – State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell MP today said that they are lucky for having such a sports friendly prime minister, who always cooperates with the helpless athletes.
He was speaking while handing over the cheque of Taka five lacs, given by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, to promising footballer Unnoti Khatun at the conference room of National Sports Council today.
The State Minister also handed over the monthly sports allowance cheque of Taka twenty four thousand to Unnoti Khatun given by the ‘Bangabandhu krirashebi kalyan foundation’.
Russell said the Prime Minister has given us whatever we want for the development of sports. She has allotted Taka three crore to help the COVID-19 affected athletes. In addition she had donated Taka ten crore to ‘Bangabandhu krirashebi kalyan foundation’ for distressed athletes.
Unnoti Khatun, showing gratitude to the Prime Minister and State Minister said: “I am very delighted that the Prime Minister stands besides my family …. I am greatly encouraged and must try to give my best for the country. I cordially thank the Prime Minister and State Minister for Sports.”
It can be mentioned that Unnoti Khatun emerged as the highest scorer (U-17 girls’) in last year’s Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib National Gold Cup Football tournament.
Youth and Sports Secretary Akhter Hossain, Inspector General of Police Benazur Ahmed and National Sports Council Secretary Mohammad Masud Karim were also present on the occasion.BSS
