42 RMG workers fall sick in Ashulia

At least 42 workers of a garment factory in Ashulia, outskirts of the capital Dhaka on Wednesday evening (November 8).

The sick workers of Orbitex knitwear, were admitted at Ashulia women and children hospital with severe vomiting and headache.

Wishing anonymity, a worker said we joined our workstation, as usual, this morning and continued till noon. After taking launch, we stopped working for two hours till 4:00 pm. Later, the authority forced us to resume work. At one stage, all of us fell sick around 5:30 pm.

Sohel Rana, administrative officer of the factory said the reason behind the illness could not be known immediately.

Dr. Kaushik Baker, in-charge of the emergency department of Ashulia Women and Children Hospital said the exact cause of the illness cannot be said at this moment. However, the reason would be Mass psychogenic illness.
