Bangladesh Journalists Meet SAARC Secretary General in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, Nepal: A delegation of Bangladeshi journalists today paid a courtesy call on SAARC Secretary General Ambassador Md Golam Sarwar at the SAARC Secretariat in Kathmandu.

The delegation, representing the SAARC Journalist Forum, discussed regional media cooperation, press freedom and the role of journalists in promoting peace, economic development and cultural exchange among South Asian countries.

The journalists stressed the importance of responsible journalism in bridging gaps among the region’s nations and highlighted the need for greater cooperation in addressing challenges such as climate change, trade and economic development.

They also emphasised the importance of strengthening professional exchanges and institutional cooperation among journalists from SAARC member states.

SAARC Secretary General Golam Sarwar expressed his support for initiatives aimed at promoting peace, prosperity and the development of journalism for the welfare of people across the region.

He also underscored the importance of cross-border professional dialogue and institutional collaboration among journalists of SAARC member states.

The delegation included SAARC Journalist Forum Secretary General Md Abdur Rahman, senior correspondent of The Bangladesh Post; Mustaq Ahmed Mubaraqui, editor of The Daily Bangabani; Md Ziaur Rahman, special correspondent of The Daily Ajkal; Mohammad Moniruzzaman, editor of Daily Bank Bima Arthority; and Md Abu Bakar Siddique, senior correspondent of Daily Ajker Probhat.
