Numerous events to celebrate 67th anniv of Sputnik 1 in Dhaka

Russia House in Dhaka in cooperation with the Legend International School held a series of events On October 24-25 dedicated to the 67th anniversary of the flight of the world's first artificial spacecraft into outer space: an Olympiad and a quiz on astronomy, a screening of the Russian documentary "Big Russians.

Tsiolkovsky's Wind Tunnel", competitions in the old Russian folk sports game "Gorodki", a competition of scientific and astronomical projects, a competition of riddles as well as a seminar on the possibilities of studying in the Russian Federation.

During the events, participants learned about Sputnik 1, the history of the modern Russian space program and its impact on global progress.

On October 4, 1957, at 22:28 Moscow time, a rocket with a satellite was launched. After 295 seconds, the rocket's central block and the satellite were launched into an elliptical orbit of the Earth, and after another 20 seconds, Sputnik-1 separated from the rocket in outer space. The first artificial Earth satellite remained in orbit for 92 days, making 1440 revolutions around the Earth.

The launch began a new era of technological and scientific development. In Russia, the launch date of Sputnik-1 is the beginning of mankind's space age, and it is annually celebrated as a memorable day of the Space Forces.

Mr. Fayez Ahmed Jahangir Masud, Director of the Legend International School, thanked the Director of the Russian House in Dhaka for organizing this event and invited his involvement in holding similar events in the future.

More than 250 students of the Legends school network took part in the events. At the end of the event, the director of the Russian House in Dhaka, Mr. Pavel Dvoychenkov presented the active participants with commemorative certificates, medals, and souvenirs.
