The Rabindra Sarobar Amphitheater in Dhaka witnessed a grand gala concert organized by the Russian House in Dhaka on August 22 to mark the National Flag Day of the Russian Federation. The event showcased a blend of Russian and Bangladeshi cultural traditions, symbolizing friendship and mutual understanding between the two nations.
The program began with remarks from a representative of Dhaka City Corporation and Ms. Ekaterina Semenova, Minister-Counselor of the Russian Embassy in Bangladesh, who highlighted the significance of the Russian tricolor as a symbol of national identity and sovereignty.
The cultural segment featured performances by prominent Bangladeshi groups, including the student ensemble Akash'Co with Russian compositions, and the rock band Sonar Bangla Circus, which performed both Russian pieces and original Bengali songs.
A solemn procession of a 31-meter Russian flag through the audience served as the evening’s emotional highlight, drawing an enthusiastic response from attendees. Guests also took photographs with Russian state symbols and received commemorative souvenirs.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Semenova noted: “This concert became not only a celebration of the Russian national flag but also a bridge of cultural interaction between our countries. We thank our Bangladeshi friends for their warm reception and joint celebration.”
The event drew around 8,000 participants, including diplomats, government officials, students, and local residents. Attendees praised the event for its organization and its role in fostering closer Russian-Bangladeshi relations.
