136 more Bangladeshi migrants return home from Libya

A total of more 136 irregular Bangladeshi citizens, who were detained at Benghazi detention centre in the Libyan capital of Tripoli, today return home by a chartered flight of Buraq Air UZ-0222.

With this, the total number of returnees rose to 534, a foreign ministry press release said here.

Upon arrival at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka, the repatriated Bangladeshi citizens were welcomed by the officials of Foreign Ministry and International Organization for Migration (IOM).

On behalf of the IOM, each of them got Taka 6,058 as pocket money and food items.

With the financial support of the IOM, Bangladesh Foreign Ministry and its Mission in Tripoli coordinating the ongoing process of repatriating Bangladeshis trapped in Libya.

The efforts of the foreign ministry to repatriate irregular Bangladeshi from Libya will be continued, the release added.

Earlier, 143, 110 and 145 irregular Bangladeshi nationals returned home from Ainjera Detention Center in Tripoli, Libya on November 28, 30 and December 6, respectively under the same process, reports BSS.
