A total of 183 Bangladeshis stranded in Lebanon amid escalating violence returned to Bangladesh last night, thanks to coordinated efforts from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, the Bangladesh mission in Beirut, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Of the returnees, 151 arrived early this morning aboard Sky Vision Airlines flight SVI-5002, a chartered flight funded by the IOM. The flight landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) at 1:00 am on November 6. Another 32 Bangladeshis arrived just hours earlier on Emirates Airlines flight EK-584, which was financed by the Bangladesh government, landing at 11:00 pm on November 5.

This latest repatriation brings the total number of Bangladeshis returned from Lebanon to 521, facilitated by nine flights.

Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Secretary Md. Ruhul Amin, Foreign Ministry Additional Secretary Syed Masud Mahmud Khondaker, and representatives from the IOM were present at the airport to receive the returnees. Each individual was provided with Taka 5,000, essential food supplies, and basic medical care.

The officials spoke with the returnees to gather firsthand accounts of their experiences during the ongoing conflict. Tragically, one Bangladeshi expatriate was reported killed in a recent bombing in Lebanon.

The Bangladesh government has reaffirmed its commitment to covering the full costs of repatriation for all Bangladeshis wishing to return from Lebanon amid the ongoing violence.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut continues to prioritize the safety of remaining nationals, providing assistance and facilitating their safe exit if needed.
