Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain today said the government directed deputy commissioners (DCs) to monitor strictly markets during the upcoming Ramadan.

The government made the directives for the DCs today at the weekly cabinet meeting held with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) here, he told a press briefing at the Secretariat here after the meeting.

The cabinet secretary said the DCs have been instructed to take legal actions if any abnormal market situation is created in the country during the Ramadan.

“There will be instructions from our side that if there is any abnormal situation in markets, legal actions must be taken. Every deputy commissioner has been asked to do so,” he said.

Replying to a question, Mahbub Hossain said market monitoring continues at different levels of the government to ensure that prices and supplies of essential commodities remain stable during the fasting month, reports BSS.
