BNP's 48-hour blockade, hartal starts Wednesday

BNP-Jamaat and its allies have previously staged blockades in seven phases,



Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will start its nationwide blockade and hartal from Wednesday, with a 24-hour  blockade followed by a 24-hour haral.

The party's senior joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the announcement on Monday.

According to the announcement, the blockade begins at 6:00 am and will continue until 6:00 am Thursday morning and, later, a 24-hour hartal will start right after the blockade ends.

BNP-Jamaat and its allies have previously staged blockades in seven phases to mount pressure on the government to quit power and hold the next general election under a non-partisan government.
