On Friday night, at least 50 people were injured in a violent clash between rival factions of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Chandpur's Puran Bazar area. The confrontation, which started around 6 pm in Bou Bazar, involved hours of chasing and counter-chasing, resulting in several shop vandalizations.

The conflict erupted over disputes concerning extortion and territorial control. Despite promises of peaceful resolution, tensions soared, leading to a surprise attack by over 200 men armed with sticks and homemade weapons on a faction led by BNP leaders Rob Miji, Rana Miji, and Shafik Miji.

Emergency services at Chandpur's 250-bed General Hospital treated 35 of the injured. Mohammad Alam Khan, a local BNP youth leader, reported that the violence began when Rob Miji and his son assaulted a resident over extortion, escalating into widespread attacks.

Police and army personnel eventually controlled the situation, and legal actions are being taken based on complaints. No arrests have been reported yet.
