Students from seven colleges affiliated with Dhaka University (DU) have blocked the bustling Science Lab intersection in the capital, bringing traffic to a standstill. The demonstration, which began around 12:30 PM, followed a march from Dhaka College, where protesters called for the establishment of an independent university.

The demonstrators are demanding that their three key points be addressed within 24 hours:
   1. The immediate formation of a commission to establish a university for the seven affiliated colleges.
   2. The commission must draft a proposal within 30 days outlining the next steps.
   3. Dhaka University must guarantee that no session jams occur until the new university is established.
This protest echoes a similar demonstration earlier in the week, during which students blocked both the Science Lab and Nilkhet intersections.
The participating colleges include Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Women’s College, Government Bangla College, and Government Titumir College.
The students, frustrated with the current affiliation system, have issued a firm 24-hour ultimatum, threatening to escalate their protests if their demands are not met.
