Mohammad Abdul Momen, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC)
Momen, who assumed office on December 11, outlined his financial details, noting that he had formally submitted his assets to the ACC Reform Commission. Other commissioners are expected to do the same.
During his disclosure, Momen shared that he owns a 1,500-square-foot apartment in Basila, consisting of two 750-square-foot units, and is in the process of acquiring an additional 700 square feet. He also holds five kathas of land in Purbachal American City with his wife and has a 1.25-katha share in a BCS administration committee land, though possession is pending. Momen mentioned he had also deposited money for a plot in RAJUK, but has yet to receive it.
In terms of movable assets, Momen owns a collection of expensive books, furniture, and electronics, valued at approximately 500,000 taka. He also receives interest from savings certificates worth 30 lakh and 20 lakh taka, with payments made every three months. Additionally, he has 17 lakh taka in his General Provident Fund (GPF), which he has not yet withdrawn.
Momen explained that his income primarily comes from his professional activities, including teaching, lecturing, and writing, as well as the proceeds from the sale of inherited assets. He also mentioned an old land investment, stating he expects to gain from its sale.
Emphasizing his long career, Momen remarked that his wealth had steadily grown since his student days, with future calculations to be made when he retires.
During the session, Momen addressed the corruption situation in Bangladesh, stressing the need for greater public awareness and media involvement. He also highlighted the political changes since August 5, describing them as historically unique.
