Khalilur Rahman, the Chief Adviser’s High Representative on the Rohingya Issue and Priority Matters, reassured the public on Saturday that there is no need to be concerned about the US tariff issue affecting Bangladeshi goods.

"We are in constant communication with the US administration, and we are prepared to respond. Measures will be taken soon," he stated during a briefing at the State Guest House Jamuna.

Following a meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, Rahman confirmed that the interim government is actively engaging with the US over the tariffs and will continue to pursue talks to address the matter.

“This issue is not new. Discussions with the US administration regarding the tariffs have been ongoing since February,” Rahman explained, adding that the government is working on solutions and remains committed to resolving the matter.

Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin also noted that Chief Adviser Prof. Yunus will personally engage in discussions with US officials, underscoring the importance of direct dialogue to resolve the tariff dispute.

The Chief Adviser convened an emergency meeting at 7:30 PM at the State Guest House Jamuna to further address the issue. The meeting was attended by key officials, including Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed, Energy and Railways Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain, and Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin, among others.

The gathering, which included experts, advisers, and senior officials, was focused on formulating a coordinated response to the tariff issue and ensuring that Bangladesh’s economic interests are safeguarded.

Rahman’s remarks signal confidence in the government's ongoing efforts and emphasize that a resolution is being actively pursued.
