DMP Urges Public Not to Block Roads, Disrupt Traffic

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued an urgent appeal to the public, urging individuals and groups to avoid blocking roads in the capital without justified cause, as such actions severely disrupt traffic flow and cause hardship for city residents.

In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, the DMP expressed concern over the recent trend of groups and vested interests organizing road blockades in Dhaka under the guise of protests or demands. These activities have led to severe traffic congestion across the city, affecting students, office commuters, outbound travelers, and patients requiring emergency medical care.

Despite continued efforts by the DMP’s Traffic Division to maintain a smooth traffic system, these sudden and unnecessary disruptions are creating widespread inconvenience and hampering city life, the statement said.

Emphasizing the need for cooperation in maintaining order on the roads, the DMP called on all parties to act responsibly and avoid obstructing roadways in the greater interest of public safety and convenience.
