bKash, BSK expand school book reading in Natore, Pabna

In a continuous effort to cultivate reading habits among students, Bishwo Shahitto Kendro, in association with bKash, has expanded its nationwide book reading programme to Natore and Pabna districts. This year, the programme will distribute 40,000 books to 330 educational institutions across the country.

As part of the programme, books were presented to students of several schools, including Bonbelghoria Shahid Reja-Un-Nabi High School, Natore Govt. Boys High School, Natore Govt Girls High School, Banolata Girls' High School, Maharaja J.N. School and College, Nababidhan Girls' High School and Collectorate Public School and College in Natore district. Likewise, Pabna Govt Girls High School, Imam Gazzali Girls School and College, Krishnapur Govt. Girls’ High School, Pabna Collectorate Public School and College and Radhanagar Majumder Academy School in Pabna district.

This initiative was conducted through two separate events held at the Natore Zilla Parishad Auditorium and Shilpakala Academy in Pabna, jointly organized by bKash, the country's largest mobile financial service provider, and Bishwo Shahitto Kendro, an organisation dedicated to building enlightened human beings. 

At the events held in their respective districts, the books were handed over to students by Md. Abul Hayat, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Natore and Moniruzzaman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT) of Pabna. Khandakar Md. Asaduzzaman, Retired Secretary and Former Trustee of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro and Sayma Ahsan, Vice President, Regulatory and Corporate Affairs Department of bKash, among others, were also present on the occasions. 

To make the book-reading programme more popular, a quiz competition on contemporary topics was organised for students in grades 6 to 10. At the end of the event, prizes were handed over to 80 students as winners of the quiz competitions. 

With the aim to inculcate book reading habits among the students, Bishwo Shahitto Kendro has been conducting this Nationwide Enrichment programme. This initiative will help the students to shape their minds as enlightened human beings. To further expand and implement this objective, bKash has been associated with this programme since 2014. Through this programme, around 400,000 books were distributed to date, benefiting over 3.3 million readers in nearly 3,000 educational institutions across the country.
