Govt approves 28 holidays for 2026

The Council of Advisers today approved the proposed list of 28 holidays for the 2026 calendar year. 


However, 11 holidays coincided with weekends (Fridays and Saturdays).

The approval came at the 47th meeting of the Council of Advisers held at the Chief Adviser's Office (CAO) here with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus in the chair. 

Following the meeting, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam revealed the information at a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy here this afternoon, reports BSS. 

"Of the holidays, 14 are general holidays and the remaining 14 are holidays by executive orders. As 11 holidays fall on weekends (Fridays and Saturdays) the officials will actually enjoy 17 government holidays in total", he said.
