Police have recovered the hanging body of a college student from his residence at Khilgaon of the capital on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Sifat Ahmed, 18, a 1st year student of Khilgaon Model College and son of Jahangir of Jhilpar area of Khilgaon.

Inspector MD Faruk, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital police camp, said Sifat was the eldest son of Jahagir.

On Friday evening, Sifat had an altercation with his sister over a mobile phone.

After being scolded by his mother, Sifat went to his room, locked the door, and took his own life, he said.

Seeing Sifat’s hanging through a window, a neighbor informed Sifat's family, he added.

Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 9 pm, reports UNB.
