A young man was killed and two others were critically injured in a bomb explosion while allegedly making bombs in Jajira upazila of Shariatpur district early Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Sohan Bepari, 20, son of Delwar Bepari of Cherag Ali Bepari Kandi area in the upazila.

The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.

The explosion occurred around 3:30am in an abandoned room of a house owned by Nurul Islam Bepari under Bilaspur Union, near the residence of Bilaspur Union Chairman Kuddus Bepari, reports UNB.

A group of people were reportedly making crude bombs there, said Md Saleh Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Jajira Police Station.

Police recovered the dismembered body of Sohan Bepari from a nearby field, a few yards away from the blast site, he said.

Police said they are investigating the incident.
