Men's kabaddi team lose to Chinese Taipei

Hangzhou, China, 4 Oct- Bangladesh men's kabaddi team suffered their second defeat in the 19th Asian Games kabaddi losing to Chinese Taipei by 31-18 points in their third group A match held at Xiaoshan Guali Sports Center Court 1 on Wednesday.

With day's defeat, Bangladesh's hope of reaching the semifinal almost shattered while Chine Taipei secured their semifinal spot with third start victories.

Taipei dominated the match from the beginning, taking a 10-8 point lead in the first half. The winners' were more aggressive in the second half, securing one creditable 'lona' in the match.

Bangladesh will face Thailand in their last group match scheduled to be held Thursday at the same venue.

In March last, Bangladesh won the Bangabandhu Gold Cup by beating Chinese Taipei by 42-28 points.

Bangladesh last won a medal in kabaddi at the 2006 Doha Asian Games.
Earlier, Bangladesh made a winning start beating Japan by 52-17 points in their group opening match and suffered a 55-18 points defeat to India in their second match.

While Bangladesh women's kabaddi team failed to reach the semi final after losing to Islamic Republic of Iran by 54-16 points in their second and ultimate group B encounter held at Xiaoshan Guali Sports Center Court 2.

Earlier, Bangladesh women's team lost to Nepal by 37-24 points in their opening group B match.
Cricket Bangladesh men's cricket team reached the semi final beating Malaysia by an exciting two runs held at Zhejiang University of technology Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field venue.

Batting first after winning the toss, Bangladesh scored 116 for 5 from their stipulated 20 overs and in reply Malaysia fell short as they managed to score 114 for 8 from allotted 20 overs.

Bangladesh will now face India in the semi final scheduled to be held on Oct 6 at the same venue.

Chess
Bangladesh chess team got a bye in the sixth round winning 2-0 in the team event held at Hangzhou Qi-Yuan (Zhili) Chess Hall.

After the sixth round, Bangladesh stand at eleventh position while Iran stand at the top.
